My friend who isn't from pittsburgh remarked during the AFC championship, "What the hell is up with the terrible towel? There are so many."
To which I told him, "Everybody in Pittsburgh owns one. It's what they wrap you in when you're born and they send you home from the hospital in it. I was born in Pittsburgh, I should know. And I still have my towel. "
It is deemed in Scripture: "And the baby shall be wrapped in swaddling Terrible Towel."
I think the theological tone is appropriate...Myron seems to be invoking some kind of rabbinic argument for the power of the tallit, or prayer shawl which Orthodox Jewish men wear. Maybe terrible towels can be equated with the prayer shawls.

The Terrible Towel was just abused by the Phoenix mayor at the Cards sendoff in Phoenix. Mayor sneezed into it, threw it on the ground, and the mascot stomped on it.
