Great story from the Times. But I have conflicting feelings about the whole thing. On one hand it shortened the war. (Allowing my father to come home and have me, for one thing) But on the other hand, it opened up a whole can of worms. Nel
Yeah, I thought it was interesting to read the story, too and note how it said, "There was sobering awareness of the tremendous responsibility involved" and how scientists involved in the development of the bomb were "frankly fearful to witness the results of the invention, which might turn out to be either the salvation or the Frankenstein's monster of the world."
